当照耶和华 － 你神所吩咐的守安息日为圣日。六日要劳碌做你一切的工，但第七日是向耶和华 － 你神当守的安息日。这一日，你和你的儿女、仆婢、牛、驴、牲畜，并在你城里寄居的客旅，无论何工都不可做，使你的仆婢可以和你一样安息。你也要记念你在埃及地作過奴仆；耶和华 － 你神用大能的手和伸出来的膀臂将你从那里领出来。因此，耶和华 －你的神吩咐你守安息日。Observe the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath Day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your oxen and donkeys and other livestock, and any foreigners living among you. All your male and female servants must rest as you do. Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the Lord your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerful arm. That is why the Lord your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath Day.
生为耶和华的子民，我们应当照他的吩咐，遵守安息日为圣日，将那日分别为圣。就是说，我们要将它与其他的时日不同的看待。六天的时间，我们要劳碌去做我们所有的工作，在第七天，我们要谨慎的休息，遵守安息日， “无论何工都不可做。” 这安息日不但是为我们所设，它也是为我们所拥有一切生物所设的，包刮我们的儿女、仆婢、牛、驴、牲畜，并在你城里寄居的客旅。耶和华特别关心我们当中的仆婢，使他们可以一样和我们能享用安息。安息日也有纪念以色列人在埃及做过奴仆，神怎样以他的大能领他们出来的意义。以基督徒来说，安息日可成为纪念神透过耶稣基督将我们从罪里拯救出来，使我们得到平安。 所以，基督徒因该将主日分别为圣，纪念神和多多的休息。 耶和华 －我们的神吩咐我们当遵守安息日。
As God’s people, we should follow the Lord’s instructions and observe the Sabbath Day to sanctify it. This means that we see this day as special and set it apart from the rest of the days. In six days, we laboriously do our work. But on the seventh day, we need to conscientiously rest, and make it our Sabbath Day, “no one in your household may do any work.” The Sabbath Day is not only instituted for us, but also for all the living creatures in our possession and jurisdiction, including our children, male and female servants, oxen, donkeys and other livestock, and the foreigners living among us. The Lord is especially kind towards the servants among us, so that they too might enjoy a day of rest like us. The Sabbath Day is also a day of commemorating the time the Israelites were in Egypt and how God in his greatness led them out of the place. For Christians, the Sabbath Day can be a time of remembering the God through our Lord Jesus Christ saved us from our sins so that we might have peace. Therefore Christians ought to set apart the Lord’s Day as holy, remember God and rest well. The Lord our God instructed us to observe the Sabbath Day.
