Jesus said, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the son of man have no place to lay his head.”
1. There is something comforting about a place called “home.” On a road trip, we would often take a familiar item from our home with us, such as a pillow or an alarm clock or something that reminds us of home.
Human beings have a special link with their home. Home gives them a sense of familiarity and security. But when our Lord Jesus sent the crowd home at the end of his teaching sessions, he would go up Mount Olives to pray, and made his home there, laying his head on the ground and starring at the stars in the sky.
2. Why did Jesus leave his heavenly home and became homeless here on earth? It is so that he might give us our heavenly home. He rose again after he died and returned to his Father to prepare a place for us. (John 14:2)
There are many homeless people in this world. They live in temporary shelters or sleep on any public places. They need a permanent home. There are many wanderers in this world, not knowing whether they will finally return to a heavenly home. We need to care for the homeless. Even more, we need to care for those who are in spiritual darkness. They need to know that they can find the light and return to their heavenly Father.
