以赛亚书 36:4-5
你所倚靠的有甚么可仗赖的呢?它们能够成为你打仗的计谋和能力吗?
What are you trusting in that makes you so confident? Do you think they can substitute for military skill and strength?
以赛亚书 36:6-7
你所倚靠的埃及是那压伤的苇杖, 人若靠这杖,就必刺透他的手。
埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是这样。
你若对我说:我们倚靠耶和华―我们的神。
希西家岂不是将神的邱坛和祭坛废去,且对犹大和耶路撒冷的人说:你们当在这坛前敬拜吗?
If you lean on Egypt, it will be like a reed that splinters beneath your weight and pierces your hand.
Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, is completely unreliable!
“But perhaps you will say to me, ‘We are trusting in the Lord our God!’
But isn’t he the one who was insulted by Hezekiah?
Didn’t Hezekiah tear down his shrines and altars and make everyone in Judah and Jerusalem worship only at the altar here in Jerusalem?
